About

"Tighten up the graphics" is a YTMND fad derived from an early 90's TV commercial advertising Westwood College's School of Industrial Services programs. Humor is derived because the video gives no information on what game design is actually like, and seems to have been written by someone completely unfamiliar with the industry, its practices, and terminology.

Upon viewing the commmercial, one is left with many questions.
How exactly does one "tighten up" graphics?
Why would the graphics be managed level-by-level rather than game-wide?
Just how exactly do they plan on writing code with game controllers in the first place?

On July 2nd, 2006, YTMND user PMRG created Tighten Up the Graphics!!1. With over 80,000 views, this is the most-viewed instance of the meme.

The following day, dunsparce created Bill Cosby Tightens up the graphics while N64 Kid Watches. With over 32,000 views, this YTMND comes in 2nd place.

Twenty-four additional "Tighten Up the Graphics" YTMNDs were created between July of 2006 and December of 2009; 15 of which were created within the first month.

The fad was ultimately small-scale and short-lived.
