Tiger Woods Big Dog, also known as Big Dawg, refers to an image of American golfer Tiger Woods looking glum and greeting a caddy with a dap while saying "big dog." The image and meme circulated widely online in December 2023, with posters describing situations in which they would also call somebody "big dog" and behave in the way Woods behaves.

Origin

The video featuring the "big dog" moment was posted on X by the official @PGATOUR page, in a December 17th, 2023 post which received over 2,000 likes in less than a week.^[1] The video showed Tiger Woods at the PNC Championship, a golf event in which golfers play with their children. Tiger played with his son, and the person he was filmed calling 'big dog' was his son's caddy, Luke Wise.^[2]

Spread

While the image spread among golf and sports fans, the earliest known version of it as a "big dog" meme appeared on December 18th, 2023, in a post by @NoLayingUp (seen below) which earned over 41,000 likes in three days.^[3]

From there, more memes following the same concept and imagining Tiger Woods as "me" in various situations spread on X / Twitter, with smaller spread on TikTok and Reddit.^[4][5] For example, on X,^[6] @bbburner_ received over 61,000 likes on December 20th for using the meme to discuss office holiday party behavior (seen below left). X^[7] user @mikehunnidproof took a more literal route and described their reaction to meeting a large canine, earning over 16,000 likes on December 20th (seen below right).
