About
Throwing Tomatoes, also known as Corny, Lame, Boo, Tomato, Tomato, Tomato, refers to a viral video on TikTok where user @niqqitee says she's sick of girls running back to men they claim they're not into, saying it's corny and lame and then saying, "tomato, tomato, tomato, I'm throwing tomatoes," while miming a tomato-throwing action. The video was posted in December 2021 and went viral as an original sound over the following months in lip-dub skits.
Origin
On December 22nd, 2022, TikToker[1] @niqqitee posted a video where she says, "About tired of seeing, 'I be so sick of you n-,' and then the next thing it's like, 'Oh I'm outside,' like, y'all are dumb, like, corny, lame, boo, tomato, tomato, tomato I'm throwing tomatoes," gaining over 5.2 million views in five months. She reuploaded the video to TikTok[2] as an original sound that day, gaining over 7.2 million views in the same span of time (shown below, left). The video references a trend on TikTok set to the song "I Hate U" by SZA where women lip dub to the lyrics "I be so sick of you niggas," then cut to a scene where their ex says "I'm outside" and the women are shown rushing to meet them as if crawling back to them (example shown below, right).[3]
