Thot Patrol

About

Thot Patrol is the name given to a fictionalized group that men belong to when they "patrol" thots online. In this instance, "patrol" means anything from shutting down advances, knocking down with comments or reporting to the IRS. The Thot Patrol has no official members, affiliations or requirements to join, and as a meme, it is used in reference and direct calls to action by anime characters.

History

One of the earliest known uses of the meme came from the Facebook page Thot Patrol, which was created sometime in early 2016. The page was short-lived though, as it was shut down in June 2016 with the creators not giving a stated reason. However, a second page^[1] promptly followed suit that same month and it has carried the first group's original intent forward since then. The creators of the page also maintain a Facebook group with the same name,^[2] which is marked by the presence of in-jokes and shitposting. It is believed this group is where many of the early thot memes came from, which only talked about what was done when seeing thots (shown below).

Spread

A subreddit named /r/Thot_Patrol was made on March 21st, 2017, and has gained 9,500 followers in four years. This subreddit helped in the proliferation of thot patrol memes and the expansion into other sub-sections of thot. This can be seen with the post by Redditor^[3] /u/jgj3498 on August 1st, 2018, which is one of the earlier forms of the "if she breathes she's a thot" subtype of such memes (shown below). This earlier example acquired 537 upvotes in three years since its posting.

The Facebook page is also credited with playing a pivotal role in popularizing memes like Timbs and Deadass (example shown below).

The operation was widely circulated members of 4chan's /pol/ board (also known there as Right Wing Tax Squads or /RWSS/) in late November 2018.

Begone, Thot

"Begone, Thot" is a slang expression used as a dismissal of someone who is considered a "thot" (a synonym for hoe or slut). Online, the phrase is often used to caption image macros featuring characters with glowing red eyes.
