About
"Those Were the Glory Days" is a memorable quote uttered by the character Mr. Incredible in the 2004 animated superhero film The Incredibles. A screen capture of Mr. Incredible saying the line has inspired a series of reaction image macros featuring of the character looking up at a wall of memorabilia from his days as a superhero. People use the image to express feelings of nostalgia. The meme has also inspired a series of image edits in which the newspaper clippings are replaced with images of another subject.
Origin
On November 5th, 2004, the Pixar released the film The Incredibles in the United States.[3] In the film, Mr. Incredible (voiced by Craig T. Nelson) expressed feelings of sorrow and nostalgia while looking at a wall of memorabilia from his days as a superhero.
The earliest known usage of the image online was posted on io9[4] in a report on the film cliche of "The Wall of Newspaper Clippings." They write of the moment, "Worth it. The art on the Incredible magazine covers is absolutely frame worthy."
