This White Boy Is Nuts refers to a meme format based on the catchphrase in which characters from various franchises are speech bubbled with it. The format achieved virality on X / Twitter in late March 2024.
Origin
On March 21st, 2024, X[1] / Twitter user @iamagolfguy wrote, "This white boy is nuts" out of context. The post (shown below) received over 760 reposts and quote posts and 640 likes in four days.
On March 22nd, X[2] user @NicholasPas5 quoted the post with an image of Dune: Part Two character Lady Margot Fenring, portrayed by Léa Seydoux, referencing the scene in which she observes character Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen fighting in the arena. The post (shown below) received over 3,300 reposts and 49,000 likes in three days.
Spread
In the following days, the post achieved viral popularity as a speech-bubbling format on X / Twitter. For example, on March 23rd, 2024, X[3] user @DaveMcNamee3000 posted a Shōgun meme that received over 6,000 reposts and 53,000 likes in two days (shown below, left). That same day, X[4] user @MattPostSaysHi posted another Dune meme based on the format, this time featuring the character Chani (Zendaya) and referencing Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), that received over 3,800 reposts and 57,000 likes in two days (shown below, right).
In addition to speech bubbling, the post has also been used to comment on videos and images of athletes and other celebrities. For example, on March 21st, 2024, X[5] user @solsrvca quoted the post with a fancam of WWE wrestler Jeff Hardy that received over 1,700 reposts and 9,100 likes in four days (shown below).
