This Was All Because of Ed, Edd, and Eddy, also known as This Was All Because of Ed, Edd n Eddy, refers to a viral video from TikTok of a man claiming that an angry group of people that he's surrounded by at a mall are mad because they just discovered that the Cartoon Network show Ed, Edd n Eddy had been canceled. He says verbatim, "They found out that Ed, Edd n Eddy stopped playing on the TV and everybody's wylin' now… Ed, Edd n Eddy been canceled for years. Yo, that's why I'm confused." At the end of the video, a shooting is heard among the crowd. The original video was posted by TikToker Carlo Malis (also known as @carlomalis and formerly known as @carlo.malis) in 2020. In the years that followed, the video was frequently brought up again in internet discourse as many online believed that it was one of the best TikTok videos of all time. Users praised Malis' seemingly spontaneous and improvised bit amid the angry crowd that eventually boiled over in violence.

On November 9th, 2020, TikToker^[1] @carlomalis posted a video with text reading, "This was all because of Ed, Edd, and Eddy," in which he was at White Marsh mall in Maryland amid an unruly crowd. He tells the viewer, "They found out that Ed, Edd n Eddy stopped playing on the TV and everybody's wylin' now… Ed, Edd n Eddy been canceled for years. Yo, that's why I'm confused."

At the end of the video, a shooting is heard and the video cuts to chaos with text reading, "What cartoon would you go this hard for?" Over four years, the video received roughly 3.9 million plays and 911,600 likes (shown below).

In the video's description, @carlomalis said the video was a repost. It's unclear on what date he posted the video originally. A previous version of the video, posted by him, had a caption reading, "This fight and shots were fired over an argument about ed, edd, and eddy." It was shared to Reddit's^[2] /r/PublicFreakout on July 26th, 2020.

On August 26th, 2020, Redditor^[3] SnuffXP shared a screen recording of a tweet that reposted the original TikTok video. In the recording, it's shown that the tweet was shared on August 20th, had amassed over 18,400 likes and was posted by since-deleted user @HolyParkamoly.

After TikToker^[1] @carlomalis shared his viral repost of the video in November 2020, the video circulated again on /r/PublicFreakout^[4] and also /r/TikTokCringe.^[5]

On February 11th, 2022, X^[6] user @TheSilverExp26 tweeted the video, replying to another TikTok video repost, writing, "This is unironically the best tiktok," gaining over 2,800 likes in two years.

On April 2022, X^[7] user @MMarfuggi replied to a post asking if Ed, Edd n Eddy or The Fairly OddParents was better, gaining over 4,500 likes in two years (shown below).

On December 30th, 2023, X^[8] user @chronakey shared a Pingas video that replaced "Ed, Edd n Eddy" with the YTP, gaining over 2,900 likes in 10 months (shown below).

On August 13th, 2024, X^[9] user @futurecanon quoted a post that asked, "what's the funniest tiktok video you've ever seen?" attaching the This Was All Because of Ed, Edd, and Eddy video. The quote tweet received over 78,000 likes in two months (shown below).

Going into late 2024, the video was referenced in more viral posts, becoming an exploitable meme. For instance, on October 6th, X^[10] user @cloutastral tweeted a screenshot of the original video, adding a caption that referenced the Uzumaki Adult Swim adaption and Naruto, writing, "everyone mad about Uzamaki, but Naruto been finished for years now yo," receiving over 36,000 likes in a day (shown below).
