About
This Dog Does 11,640 Damage per Second refers to a series of memes in which various animals are captioned with the phrasal template "This X Does 11,640 Damage per Second." Spawned by a viral Elden Ring video explaining a bug that results the enemy NPC Rotten Stray dealing huge damage per second, the caption was popularized on social media in late March 2022.
Origin
On March 29th, 2022, YouTuber[1] Zullie the Witch posted a video about the 2022 video game Elden Ring in which they showed a bug involving the dog-like enemy Rotten Strays. Due to an oversight in hit registration, small Rotten Strays are able to deal up to 11,640 damage to the player in one second, killing them instantly. The video gained over 1.6 million views in one week (shown below).
Later on March 29th, 2022, Twitter[2] user @toadmoney posted the thumbnail from the video on Twitter, writing, "one of the funniest fucking thumbnails i've ever seen." The tweet received over 3,400 retweets and 39,900 likes in one day (shown below).
