In variations using the meme format, the end of the caption is altered with different text.

Origin

The earliest known edit of the Cane's meal was posted on March 19th, 2024, by Instagram^[1] user durags, gaining over 19,000 likes in four months. The meme is an image macro featuring an image of a meal from fast food restaurant Raising Cane's and the caption, "This and being called a good boy" (shown below).

Spread

Over the following months, the image inspired edits that altered the end of the caption. On March 20th, 2024, Twitter / X user @EstrogenBurger^[4] posted an edit of the image that changed "good boy" to "fat fuck," gaining over 270 retweets and 1,100 likes in four months (shown below).

On July 2nd, 2024, Twitter user @whotfisjovana^[2] posted an edit that changed "boy" to "girl," gaining over 6,000 retweets and 41,000 likes in three days (shown below, left). On July 3rd, user @filledwithurine^[3] posted an edit that changed it to "Michael," gaining over 4,000 retweets and 47,000 likes in two days (shown below, right).
