About

"Think You Can Take Me?" / "Don't Forget Me!" are catchphrases said by the enemy-type Ardanian Soldiers in the 2017 RPG video game Xenoblade Chronicles 2 released for the Nintendo Switch. Following the release of the game, they became infamous for their over the top accents and repetitive voice clips resulting in many videos mocking them.

Origin

Leading up to the release of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 many fans of the series expressed their displeasure with the English dub particularly with the abundance of English accents.[1] When the game was released on December 1st, 2017 the Ardanian Soldiers were seen as an example of the problems with the voice acting emphasizing their obnoxiously loud voices and constant repeating of lines such as "Don't forget me!", "Think you can take me?", and "You're done."

Spread

On December 3rd, 2017 a Youtube channel titled im salt uploaded a highlight of famous Youtuber Etika's stream of the game during which he is overwhelmed by the soldiers' voices and is forced to exit the game to collect himself (shown below).

A Gamefaqs[2] thread inquiring about what line from the game will become a meme received several responses including the cries from the Ardanian Soldiers. On December 2nd, a thread about the Ardanian Soldiers' lines was posted to /r/xenoblade,[4] gaining over 150 upvotes. On December 5th, Nintendo Life[3] published an article explaining how to turn off the constant "verbal diarrhea" of the game's characters. The line's popularity on Reddit led to an article on switchaboo[5] posted December 18th covering some of the more humorous threads about the line (examples shown below).
