About
They/Them Energy refers to a viral video of nonbinary singer-songwriter Corook on stage at a concert, leading a chant with the crowd about having "they/them energy." They're seen in the clip wearing a blue shirt, backward hat and round glasses. The video went viral on TikTok in late January 2025 and sparked memetic usage as some people perceived it as cringe. LGBTQ+ meme creators also used the video for memes, skits and jokes. Overall, the video was often used as an exploitable in edits with people adding text captions, speeding it up and altering the video quality. Others lip-dubbed the TikTok sound, giving the video's audio new meanings. Corook is also known for the If I Were a Fish and You Caught Me song, which garnered attention online in early 2023.
