These Spoilers Are So Dope, also known as Love These Spoilers, is a series of four-panel image macros that joke about the multiple meaning of the world "spoiler.". Online, people post three pictures of the spoilers that would be found on the back of cars and one panel that reveals an important plot point from a variety of pop culture franchises.

Origin

The earliest known usage of the format was posted on October 19th, 2016 by Twitter ^[1] user @TheDHoj. The post features three car spoilers and one screen capture of soccer-player Conrad Grygoriew (shown below). They captioned the post "These spoilers are dope 😩😩🔥."

Spread

The following year, on May 11th, Twitter^[2] user @TylerLeMoine4 posted a version using a spoiler form the series Orange is the New Black (shown below, left)

On November 25th, 2017, Redditor ^[3] felixmarten_eats_ass posted a variation that features the text "Sensei Wu dies in the LEGO Ninjago Movie" in the /r/dankmemes subreddit. The post (shown below, center) received more than 3,600 points (96% upvoted) and 140 comments with in six months.

Following the release of Avengers: Infinity War, some online began posting mock spoilers for humorous effect. On April 28th, 2018, Facebook ^[4] user 8shit posted a version with the fake spoiler "Captain America dies in Vietnam." The post (shown below, right) received more than 4,000 reactions, 1,200 shares and 260 comments.
