There We Land is a catchphrase popularized by soccer news TikToker @winnertshipa. The phrase, which is used with a positive connotation similar to a phrase like "here we go," went viral in August 2024 as the TikToker began working it into his videos, inspiring memes referencing his use of the catchphrase. The phrase also gained viral spread on X / Twitter, with brands like Adidas and the official Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. account using it. "There we land" is inspired by Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano's use of the catchphrase "here we go" in his TikTok videos.
Origin
Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano is known to use the phrase "here we go" in his TikTok videos in which he covers soccer news (example shown below). It has been suggested that @winnertshipa's phrase "there we land" is inspired by this.
On August 10th, 2024, TikToker[1] @winnertshipa posted a video about Aaron-Wan-Bissaka's move to West Ham in which he shared the news and then said, "There we land," garnering over 10 million views in six days (shown below, left). The TikToker[2] posted several other videos using the phrase that day, including a video that gained over 3.1 million views in six days (shown below, right). The popularity of the phrase inspired the TikToker to continue using it in many of his following videos.
Spread
On August 10th, 2024, X[3] user @CSSZNi reposted a video of @winnertshipa using the phrase, writing, "'There we land' is sending me 😭😭😭," garnering over 17,000 likes in six days.
On August 11th, the same X[4] user quote-reposted himself, writing, "This brudda really thinks 'there we land' is going to take him out the hood 😭😭😭," garnering over 6,200 likes in five days (shown below, left). On August 13th, X[5] user @RisingBallers_ made a post about the TikToker's growth since coining the catchphrase, garnering over 2,000 likes in three days (shown below, right).
That day, TikToker[6] @ryanair posted a meme using a clip of the TikToker saying the phrase, garnering over 2 million views in three days (shown below, left). On August 14th, TikToker[7] @vfxgoat posted a compilation of people saying similar parody phrases on "there we land" in regards to soccer news, garnering over 1.2 million views in two days (shown below, right).
Later on August 14th, 2024, the official @AdidasUK X[8] account used the phrase in response to a post by the official Manchester United account, garnering over 50,000 likes in two days. On the same day, the official X[9] account for the Premiere League Brighton & Hove Albion F.C., @OfficialBHAFC, made a post using the phrase that gained over 46,000 likes in two days.
Also on August 14th, X[10] user @CSSZNi, who previously made a post criticizing the TikToker, writing, "This brudda really thinks 'there we land' is going to take him out the hood 😭😭😭," posted, "Never mind 'There We Land' actually took this brudda out the hood," garnering over 37,000 likes in two days (shown below).
