There Goes Maman Racing refers to misheard lyrics from 2018 song "You Are The Reason" by Calum Scott, sung by two guys via karaoke app Smule. The video gained popularity due to both the misspoken lyrics and the laughing heard afterwards.

Origin

On July 31st, 2019, Smule[1] user _abiey_WOLF uploaded a karaoke video with his friend singing "You Are The Reason" by Calum Scott. When his friend starts singing, he says "maman racing" instead of "my mind racing," then both of them laugh together after realizing that he sung the wrong lyrics. The video received more than 1,000 views. On the same day, YouTube[2] user Dede Riandi reposted the video and received more than 4.5 million views in three years (shown below).

In the early 2020s, the video gained popularity with many reposts to various platforms such as Facebook[3] and TikTok.[4] On March 22nd, 2021, YouTube[5] user KIUKIU MELEDAK (previously named MONTAGE BANDAGE) uploaded a video parodying "You Are The Reason" and received more than 1 million views in one year (shown below).

On September 2nd, 2020, Facebook[6] user Hanif Ahmad Fauzi uploaded a screenshot of "maman racing" search results that shows the Calum Scott song on the top search. The post received more than 1,300 reactions and 212 shares in three years (shown below).

On March 4th, 2022, Facebook[7] user Dhanoe S Laksana uploaded "You Are The Reason" lyrics but used the "maman racing" version, which received more than 3,800 reactions and 8,400 shares in one year (shown below).
