On August 20th, 2021, Instagram^[1] user and model @bdgrlbklyn, Brooke Flecca, posted a collection of photos with the description, "Me and friends," garnering over 44,000 likes in four years. In the first photo, Flecca sits on a doorstep outside of a building in New York City with a cigarette in one hand, looking up at the camera. Her cigarette pack and lighter lay beside her.

The photo of Brooke Flecca garnered viral attention and began inspiring memes as early as May 2023.

For example, on May 8th, 2023, X^[2] user @Soofiiaramos reposted the image under a caption that translates to, "When I'm being told something I didn't know and the person telling me, tells it with great enthusiasm and it's clear that they know what they're talking about," garnering over 14,000 likes in two years.

On October 6th, X^[3] user @CaadeOKC posted another meme using the photo, garnering over 11,000 likes in two years.

On January 7th, 2025, the X^[4] gimmick account @CigsMake, or "Cigarette Nostalgia," reposted the image, garnering over 13,000 likes in five months.

That same day, X^[5] user @jimdrunknmiller quote the post, writing, "I will kill myself right now i’m so fucking serious," garnering over 55,000 likes in the same span of time.

On January 14th, Instagram^[6] user freshmenszn posted an image macro placing the top text, "POV: The typa shit you see after just being kicked out of the bar," garnering around 130 likes in six months. This POV meme was reposted by numerous accounts and went viral several times over the next few months.

For example, on February 8th, it was reposted by Instagram^[7] user savagedad2323, gaining over 10,000 likes in four months.

On February 14th, 2025, it was posted to the /r/PeterExplainsTheJoke^[8] subreddit, garnering over 30,000 upvotes in four months. The top comment, written by Redditor u/notagoodtimetotext, offers an explanation of the joke that reads:

Former bouncer here. Every now and again you would get the REALLY drunk girl that would step outside to sober up and wait for her girlfriends. She would do the following

1. Sit on the curb not too far from the door.

2. Stack her phone credit cards and smokes

3. Talk to anyone with a pulse when not surfing her phone.

Most nights, she was pretty harmless and would sober up enough to re-enter. There were nights that she would also be incredibly horny and would flirt with the first guy she sees. Typically, that dude is the guy we just tossed out.

On May 23rd, the Alcohol Memes Facebook^[9] page reposted the meme, garnering over 13,000 reactions in two weeks.
