The True 4chan Kid refers to a video by YouTuber DasJus Mean where he claims to be the "true 4chan kid," saying he browses "/mu/" and "/b/" and repeating the phrase "are you kidding me dude" in a whiny voice. The video, uploaded in 2011, is believed to be a troll by some and was recreated by the YouTuber in 2017, also inspiring a garage rock song that year.

Origin

On December 23rd, 2011, YouTuber^[1] DasJus Mean posted a video titled "im the true 4chan kid," gaining over 100,000 views in 11 years (shown below). In the video, addressed to 4chan users, the YouTuber says he's been telling people to watch his videos then says "are you kidding me dude?" repeatedly, saying he browses the "music," "television" and "random" boards on the site. He also mentions Xavier: Renegade Angel, a show popular on 4chan.

Hey what's up 4chan. I just wanted to show you -- like I've been constantly talking to you guys, telling you guys to check out my videos and it's just like, are you kidding me dude? The video was referenced and shared several times on 4chan^[4] starting in 2012. On January 17th, 2017, musician comps posted a song titled "the true 4chan kid" to Bandcamp,^[3] using dialogue from the video as the lyrics to the song (shown below).

On March 3rd, the YouTuber^[5] posted an unofficial music video for the song, gaining over 2,000 views in five years (shown below, left). On July 17th, the YouTuber^[2] posted a video where he repeats the dialogue from the original, gaining over 8,500 views in five years (shown below).
