About

The Triangle Method, also known as The Triangle Trick, The Triangle Thing, The Triangle Technique or Triangular Gazing, is a slang term referring to a manifestation and flirtation tactic done through coordinated eye contact in the shape of a triangle, going from the subject's right eye to left eye and then to the lips. The "Triangle Method" was discussed en masse on TikTok starting in 2022, often referenced as a means to achieving Unspoken Rizz. It was first coined by pick-up artists in the early 2010s and then discussed on Reddit and YouTube initially.

Origin

Originally, the "Triangle Method" was referred to as "Triangular Gazing" and was coined by a group of pick-up artists called the Westside Toastmasters and published on their website[1] as a part of chapter eight of their e-book. Chapter eight was titled "The Eyes Have It" and was all about utilizing eye contact in pick-up art. What they called "The Social Gaze" entailed looking from the subject's right eye to left eye to lips, which supposedly conveyed non-aggressiveness.

On December 3rd, 2011, Redditor Karaktor posted about "Triangular Gazing" on Reddit's /r/seduction[2] subreddit, linking chapter eight of the Westside Toastmasters' e-book. The post received over 50 upvotes in 11 years.

Spread

Triangular gazing was isolated to discussions in pick-up artist circles continuing into the 2010s. On December 4th, 2016, YouTuber[3] Tripp Advice uploaded a video titled, "The Eye Contact Secret That Attracts Women," in which he discussed triangular gazing and its seduction power. Over the course of six years, the video received roughly 816,700 views (shown below).
