About

The Most Incredible Bridges In the World refers to an exploitable on Twitter in which people show three famous bridges such as the Golden Gate and London Bridges then a screenshot of lyrics from a song's musical bridge, praising it as one of "the most incredible bridges in the world."

Origin

On August 11th, 2016, Reddit user sickasfrickandunlit[2] posted a variation of the format with the song "Creep" by Radiohead, gaining over 700 points (shown below).


Spread

On December 25th, 2017, Twitter user @Princexercize tweeted the first example of the format, using the lyrics to Britney Spears' "Hit Me Baby One More Time." The tweet has since been deleted, though a screenshot of the tweet captures the date (shown below, left). The format began spreading in the following days. On December 27th, user @ULTRASLUT[1] used the format with Charli XCX lyrics (shown below, right).


Over the course of the year, the format became more popular with other musicians. Twitter user @awloveyoulouis posted a tweet with One Direction lyrics on December 8th, 2018, gaining over 500 retweets and 1,400 likes (shown below, left). User @Tomlinbucks did the same on April 3rd, 2018, gaining over 1,200 retweets and 2,000 likes (shown below, right).



Screenshots of memes have been popular on Reddit, and particularly in musical communities. A Coldplay joke appeared on December 11th, 2016, gaining over 140 points (shown below, left). A version using a Christian song appeared on /r/dankchristianmemes on February 13th, 2018, gaining over 7,700 points (shown below, right).
