The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is an idiomatic expression that is often used in image form on the internet to present and contrast the characters or aspects of a particular media franchise.
Origin
On December 23rd, 1966, Italian epic Spaghetti Western movie, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly,[1] the film which originated the phrase, was released. One of the posters[2] used to promote the film has since become an iconic example of film advertising, and is the stylistic basis for many of the meme's derivations.
On October 12th, 2008, DeviantArt [6]user DutchLion posted a Naruto themed parody, as of October 2014, the image has gained over 4,000 views.

On September 21st, 2011, DeviantArt [8] user posted an Adventure Time themed parody, as of October 2014, the image has gained over 5,000 views.
On September 2nd, 2012, Deviant Art[7] user KanalenSE posted a Sherlock themed parody, as of October 2014, the post has gained over 700 views.
On June 9th, 2013, Tumblr user punksthetic[5] posted a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle themed parody.
On December 6th, 2013, Joy Reactor[4] added a The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly thread on their forum, adding a Doctor Who themed parody poster.
On January 20th, 2014, an Adventure Time themed parody poster was posted.
