The Disgusting Brothers is a nickname the Succession characters Greg (played by Nicholas Braun) and Tom (Matthew Macfadyen) apparently gave themselves before episode one of the show's fourth season. After the pair discussed the nickname in the March 26th, 2023, episode, social media users posted prominent duos from pop culture with the caption "The Disgusting Brothers," creating various image caption memes using the reference.

In the season four opener of Succession, aired on March 26th, 2023, the two characters Greg and Tom discuss that in the time between seasons three and four, they gave themselves the nickname "The Disgusting Brothers," which Greg appears to enjoy much more than Tom. At the time of writing, it's unclear why the pair call themselves that.[1]

After the episode aired on March 26th, 2023, viewers quickly took to social media to make jokes about "The Disgusting Brothers." That night, Twitter user @CVas317[2] posted a joke about a Tom and Greg Succession spinoff called "The Disgusting Brothers," gaining over 400 retweets and 4,500 likes in two days (shown below).



Over the following days, social media users posted images of well-known male duos in pop culture with the caption "The Disgusting Brothers." For example, on March 27th, Twitter user @ericallenhatch[3] posted the caption with a picture of the Horne brothers from Twin Peaks, gaining over 100 retweets and 860 likes in one day (shown below, left). The same day, user @BethyBSQU[4] then posted a meme using a picture of Niles and Frasier Crane, gaining over 260 retweets and 2,800 likes in a similar timeframe (shown below, right).
