The Council Will Decide Your Fate is an image macro of a group of five people standing in a row with traffic cones over their heads. The picture often represents a group of decision makers due to their posture and headgear.

Origin

On December 13th, 2018, Redditor^[1] BermudaRhombus1 posted the original image to r/hmmm which gained over 800 points (97% upvoted) in five months (shown below).

On the same day, Redditor^[5] Mickychon posted a meme using the image, captioning it "When you and da bois are tyring to decide if the new guy is werid enough to join the squad" (shown below). The post received over 12,000 upvotes in /r/dankmemes in six months.

Spread

On December 14th, 2018, Redditor^[2] Croftt posted the image to r/me_irl comparing the people in the image to the "seven people who sort by new" (shown below, left). The post garnered over 4,100 points (96% upvoted) in five months. The image continued to represent rulers of a sort of odd-ball group. On April 6th, 2019, Redditor Soulofcinder9 post the image to r/dankmemes^[3] comparing the group to the reddit community (shown below, center). The post gained over 1,300 points (97% upvoted) in a month. On May 12th, Redditor THEFIRESTORMER compared the group to the Christian Minecraft community in a post to r/memes^[4] (shown below, right). The post accumulated 10,900 points (97% upvoted) in two days.
