Origin

On January 23rd, 2019, Twitter ^[1] user @xlayre tweeted, "The clitoris has 8,000 nerve endings and still isn’t as sensitive as a white man on the Internet." The tweet received more than 208,000 retweets and 700,000 likes in six days (shown below).

Spread

The following day, television personality Piers Morgan responsed to the joke, calling it "racist toxic feminism." He tweeted,^[4] "The penis has 8,000 nerve endings too, but if I said 'it still isn’t as sensitive as a black woman on the Internet' – I'd be banned from Twitter & fired for racist toxic masculinity. Why is racist toxic feminism – like this tweet below – any more acceptable?" Within five days, the tweet received more than 12,000 retweets and 66,000 likes (shown below, left)

Following the original post, others began using the format to mock other people who are offended. For example, on January 25th, Twitter user @altNOAA tweeted,^[2] "The clitoris has 8,000 nerve endings and it is still not as sensitive as Donald Trump." The tweet received more than 90 retweets and 930 likes in four days (shown below, center).

On January 28th, Twitter^[3] user @rishibagree tweeted, "The clitoris has 8,000 nerve endings and still isn't as sensitive as Javed Akhtar when someone disagrees with him." The tweet received more than 380 retweets and 1,200 likes in 24 hours (shown below, right).
