That's My Type

That's My Type is a series of TikTok videos in which users implement Saweetie's "My Type" lyrics to list aspects of their preferred type of significant other in text. Soon after Saweetie's release of the single "My Type" in August 2019, TikTok users began creating numerous versions of their own type to the song.

Origin

On August 9th, 2019, @jaystoney uploaded a video in which he states that his type is "girls that are watching with no socks on" (shown below). The video gained over 644,700 likes and 28,000 shares in 10 days.

Spread

On August 11th, 2019, @lilhuddy uploaded a variation that reads "girls that don't like me back" which accumulated over 570,800 likes and 12,600 shares in eight days. Although many iterations of the that's my type where genuine, many were ironic or a play on the theme. For example, that same day, @realiamsilk uploaded a video that discusses blood type and not a potential mate (shown below, center). The video garnered over 471,500 likes and 10,200 shares in eight days. On August 16th, Saweetie^[1] herself uploaded her own that's my type video (shown below, right). The video gained over 14,400 likes in three days.
