That Was Legitness refers to a viral video of a kid doing a scooter trick followed by an onlooking kid responding with a lisp, "that was legitness." The video was originally posted to Vine in 2015 and went viral through reposts. The boy in the video, real name Joshua Kravchenko, became known as the "legitness kid." He has dwarfism. He appeared in numerous videos and images online since, including a number of appearances on Tanner Fox's YouTube channel.

Origin

On May 22nd, 2015, Vine[1] user Paul Kim uploaded a video from Allen Skatepark showing a kid doing a scooter trick. After the trick the camera pans to the left to show a kid with buck teeth, who says "that was legitness," followed by the camera operator enthusiastically saying, "yeah it was." The video gained over 42 million loops by the time the platform shut down. It was reuploaded to YouTube[2] on May 27th, gaining over 7 million views in a similar span of time (shown below).

Spread

The kid in the video colloquially became known as the "legitness kid." On May 26th, 2015, YouTuber Mitchell Rays posted a remix of the video, gaining over 163,000 views in seven years (shown below). On the same day, Twitter[3] user @connorahn posted a selfie with the kid.

On June 5th, a video was uploaded by YouTuber SoccerKingTV showing the "legitness kid" saying the line at the X Games in response to a trick, gaining over 975,000 views in seven years (shown below, left). On January 18th, 2016, he made a brief appearance in a video by YouTuber Henry Mortensen, who gets him to hesitantly say the line, gaining over 121,000 views in six years (shown below, right).

On April 11th, he appeared on YouTuber and skater Tanner Fox's YouTube channel after Fox ran into him at Allen Skatepark. In the video he has the kid recreate the reaction (shown below). The video gained over 5.1 million views in six years.

On January 29th, 2021, TikToker @papi_dre1 posted a video update on the "legitness kid," sharing that he's now allegedly 21 years old and goes to a technical college in Texas. He claims the boy was bullied for the video but now has a license plate that reads "legitness" (shown below). He also shares a number of photos from Kravchenko's Instagram[4] page. The video gained over 480,000 views in a year.

Kravchenko is active on Instagram and often posts images of himself, offering a look at what the "legitness kid" looks like today (examples shown below, left and right).
