That's It. I Am No Longer An Orioles Fan refers to a copypasta used by sports fans on Twitter and Reddit. The copypasta stems from a fan of Major League Baseball's Baltimore Orioles, angry that the team traded pitcher Andrew Cashner. It reads, "That seals the deal. I am no longer an Orioles fan. I’ve been a fan since 1982 and a season ticket holder since 1996. I officially will not be renewing my plan next season nor will I watch on tv ever again. Elias is officially the worst gm in history." In variations, users will change some of the subjects of the copypasta and add some different actions.

Origin

On July 13th, 2019, Twitter user @will61375^[1] responded to a tweet by Major League Baseball's Baltimore Orioles announcing they'd traded pitcher Andrew Cashner, expressing his frustration with Orioles management. He wrote, "That seals the deal. I am no longer an Orioles fan. I’ve been a fan since 1982 and a season ticket holder since 1996. I officially will not be renewing my plan next season nor will I watch on tv ever again. Elias is officially the worst gm in history." The tweet gained 15 retweets and 49 likes (shown below).

Spread

The post started being used as a copypasta in the weeks after by fellow Orioles fans.^[2] However, it was not until summer 2020 that the copypasta began spreading outside of the fanbase. On July 22nd, 2020, Twitter user @BlueJaysTroll^[3] posted it in response to the Boston Red Sox posting a Black Lives Matter banner, gaining over 120 retweets and 700 likes (shown below, left). This variant became a copypasta itself; on August 24th, 2020, Twitter user @jdubbssimms^[4] posted screenshots of multiple Twitter users using the copypasta talking about the NBA, mistakenly labeling the users as "bots", gaining over 12,000 retweets and 39,000 likes (shown below, right).

The copypasta began seeing use among soccer fans and beneath political tweets in later 2020. For example, on November 4th, 2020, user @castro1021^[5] tweeted it in response to a Manchester United tweet, gaining over 100 retweets and 3,600 likes (shown below, left). The night before, Twitter user @Pluto_IX9^[6] tweeted it in response to a tweet by Donald Trump (shown below, right).
