On May 3rd, 2024, TikToker[1] @phoenix.mw posted a U.S. military edit set to the song "Take Me Out" by Franz Ferdinand. The video showed a montage of American military clips combined with the lines, "So if you're lonely, you know I'm here waiting for you." The post gathered over 11 million plays and 1.7 million likes in a month (seen below).

Various TikTokers posted reactions to the aforementioned edit, with TikToker[2] @baliornee writing, "there's nothing the United States military could do to convince me to join-" and pointing at a Gundam video on June 4th, 2024. The post gathered over 7 million plays and 900,000 likes in two weeks (seen below, left).
On June 6th, TikToker[3] @vespergeo posted a video joking about how the TikTok edit convinced her to join the military, gathering over 17 million plays and 1 million likes in 10 days (seen below, right).
