Terrified IShowSpeed Covering His Mouth or Speed Scaredrefers to a black-and-white reaction image, GIF and video clip of YouTuber and streamer IShowSpeed covering his mouth, seemingly holding back a scream, and bulging his eyes to express terror. It was used en masse within TikTok comment sections in late 2025, largely stemming from its use in the Degloving memes, related to the activity of Gloving, and the Serial Killer IShowSpeed video caption memes.

The image originally comes from a November 2023 IShowSpeed stream. In the clip, Speed uncovers his mouth to quickly say the N-word, and its initial use in video caption memes largely used the soundbite memetically.

Origin

On November 11th, 2023, IShowSpeed went live on YouTube^[2] for over five hours while he played video games like Fortnite. The stream was titled, "👨🏿‍🦱🎸⋆⭒˚｡ ⋆," and received over 2.3 million views in two years.

At the stream's 5:24:19 timestamp,^[3] Speed is playing the survival horror video game Fears to Fathom – Ironbark Lookout and is hiding under a bed. He's seen with his hands over his mouth, looking terrified. Then, he lets go of his mouth and quickly says the N-word.

The clip gained memetic use years later, with the earliest known meme being shared by TikToker^[4] @jp_theofficial on September 28th, 2025, who used a black-and-white version of the clip in a video caption meme, reading, "When bro yells too loud on the game and his dad enters his room and lowk starts stabbing the shit out of him." Over three months, the video received over 645,900 likes.

On September 30th, Tenor^[5] user gabbydance35 shared a GIF of the black-and-white clip.

On October 10th, 2025, TikToker^[6] @vxillanlol shared a video caption meme that used Speed saying the N-word as a punchline, paired with the caption, "When you hear footsteps at shawty house and it's her dad so you hide under the bed but you lowkey a troll so you hit a hard R to see what would happen." Over two months, the video received over 247,600 likes.

On December 5th, Redditor Infamous-Climate-984 posted a comment on an /r/LookismPowerScalers^[1] subreddit post, attaching the black-and-white image of streamer IShowSpeed covering his mouth with his hands, expressing terror. The comment is currently the first known upload of the reaction image online.

Soon after, on December 8th, 2025, the image was used in the comment section of TikToker^[7] @drakoarmy's video that started the Degloving memes.

Also on December 8th, TikToker^[8] @pink_salm0n used the Terrified IShowSpeed Covering His Mouth clip in a video caption meme about Degloving, with the text overlay reading, "When bro makes fun of the gloving community but then lowkenuinly gets degloved in front of me." Over 15 days, the video received over 643,200 likes.
