Tenaha Police Department Drug Bust Photograph refers to a series of jokes and photoshops of an image of four Tenaha police officer standing before a table of seized drugs and weapons. Online, people mocked the photograph for the size of seizure and photoshopped different items onto the table.
Origin
On December 5th, 2018, the KTRE news Facebook [1] account posted an image of four Tenaha, Texas police officers standing behind a table covered with various items seized in a drug arrest. They captioned the post, "Officers with the Tenaha Police Department arrested three people on felony drug charges Monday after they executed a search warrant on a home and found marijuana, prescription pills, drug paraphernalia, packaging materials, guns, and cash." The post received more than 40,000 reactions, 72,000 comments and 65,000 shares in one week.
People responded to the post negatively. Many of the comments focused on the items seized and the perceived pride the officers had in their haul (examples below).
Spread
That day, Twitter [2] user @TopDawg_C tweeted the photograph with the caption, "These niggas stretched out $70 😭😭😭😭😭." The post received more than 35,000 retweets and 140,000 likes in one week (shown below).
Following the post, people began photoshopping the table so that it appeared the bust was even smaller. On December 6th, Twitter[3] user @ReidParker_ photoshopped the image, replacing the drugs with monopoly money (shown below, left). Throughout the week, more people edited the image for humorous effect (shown below, center and right).
