Tell Me Why Your Hands Are Cold or the Kiss Marks Trend refers to a TikTok trend where users take images of two characters they ship and put kiss marks in the color of one character's lips on the other, often set to the song "Show Me How" by Men I Trust. The trend began in early October 2022 and went viral over the course of the month.

Origin

On October 8th, 2022, TikToker^[1] @roastedtitan posted a video where she uses images of two Genshin Impact characters, takes the color from one's lips, then puts kiss marks on the other character, garnering over 10,000 views in three weeks (shown below).

Spread

That month, the trend spread over several sounds on TikTok. On October 21st, 2022, the same TikToker^[2] posted another version of the trend, writing, "help i think i started this mini trend," garnering over 69,000 views in a week. On October 24th, TikToker^[3] @ravenqueensgf posted a version of the trend with Harley Quinn, garnering over 725,000 views in four days (shown below).

On October 26th, TikToker^[4] @homeroedits posted a video to the trend using The Simpsons characters Marge and Homer, garnering over 106,000 views in two days (shown below, left). On October 27th, TikToker^[5] @flower_shyshy posted a version with Barbie characters, garnering over 185,000 views in a day (shown below, right).
