Taylor Swift Fan Girl Maddie.Braps Crying During "Exile" is a viral video of TikToker @maddie.braps sitting outside of a Taylor Swift concert with her friends and crying hysterically when Swift performs her song "Exile," which the TikToker says is the song that "saved her life." The video was posted in late February 2024 and became the subject of reactions and memes on TikTok and X / Twitter, with many using it as an excuse to criticize Taylor Swift's fandom in general, while others used it to express their reactions to a given occurrence.
Origin
On February 25th, 2024, TikToker[1] @maddie.braps posted a video captioned "Sydney night 3 My reaction to Taylor singing Exile (also known as the song that saved my life)." In the video, she and a few friends are seen sitting on the ground outside of the concert hall where Taylor Swift is performing. When she starts singing "Exile," Maddie hysterically cries and her friends comfort her, smiling and seemingly trying not to laugh at one point. The video gained over 475,000 views in a day (shown below). The video's description reads, "I’m actually not well."

The video went viral over the following days through reposts, reactions and memes. For example, on February 25th, 2024, it was reposted by TikToker[2] @abstract_nation, garnering over 1.8 million views in a day. On the same day, TikToker[3] @ariankatanyaknowles reposted it with the caption, "THE WAY THEY'RE TRYING NOT TO LAUGH," garnering over 5 million views in a day (shown below).
That day, X[4] user @ifibe1ievey0u posted the video, writing, "me when the 1975 played milk," garnering over 4,000 likes in a day. X[5] user @F3ARL3SSTV quote-reposted it, writing, "her friends are so strong I’d have to laugh at her because why is your reaction to taylor swift playing exile the same as me finding out my dad died," garnering over 141,000 likes in a day (shown below, left and right).
On February 26th, the official Amazon Prime UK X[6] account posted, "us when Alex and Henry came out to the world 🥲" garnering over 1,000 likes in under a day. On the same day, TikToker[7] @bryanlicious2 posted a video reacting to the original video, calling it "hilarious" and calling her friends "snakes" for suppressing laughter, garnering over 150,000 views in under a day (shown below).
