Tap In is a TikTok dance created by TikToker yodamnmomma in late June 2020 and gained popularity in July 2020 after TikTok stars like Charli D'Amelio and Ana Coto performed the dance. The dance, which involves miming the lyrics, arm crosses and hip shakes, uses Saweetie's June 2020 song "Tap In."[1]
Origin
On June 29th, 2020, TikToker yodamnmomma showed off a new dance she made to the song "Tap In" by Saweetie (shown below). The video gained over 253,900 likes in nine days.
Spread
On July 4th, 2020, TikToker Kouvr performed the Tap In dance and garnered over 1.1 million likes in four days (shown below, left). On July 6th, Charli D'Amelio uploaded a video of herself doing the dance and credited yodamnmomma (shown below, center). The video accumulated over 5.8 million likes in two days. The next day, Ana Coto uploaded a video of herself rollerskating while performing the day and received over 695,200 likes in a day (shown below, right). StayHipp[2] published an article on the trend.
