Take Him Out is a memorable quote from the 2007 animated film Bee Movie. In the film, the character Barry Benson (voiced by Jerry Seinfeld) instructs an ATHF officer to snipe Winnie the Pooh with a tranquilizer gun. Online, people have used the moment as a reaction image and exploitable, changing the sniper's target.
Origin
On October 28th, 2007, the film Bee Movie was released in theaters in the United States. In the film, the character Barry Benson instructs a sniper to shoot Winnie the Pooh.[1] He tells the officer, "Take him out."
The earliest usage of the moment as a two-panel meme was posted by Tumblr [2]user iveneverhadnutella, who captioned the post "this movie was really fucked up." The account has since been deactivated, but a reblog by freshprincess was posted on October 5th, 2013. The post (shown below) features two panels from "Take Him Out" scene would become the template for the exploitable. In less than five years, the post received more than 316,000 notes.
Spread
On August 15th, 2015, Imgur [3] user MaliciousInsect posted a gif of the moment, calling it "the best moment." The post (shown below, left) received more than 2,000 points in three years.
The following year, Instagram [4] user @fourtwunty posted an exploitable in which the sniper appears to be assassinating former President John F. Kennedy (shown below, right).
On June 20th, 2018, Redditor [5] uberpussy99 posted a variation in which the sniper appears to be shooting deceased rapper XXXtentacion in the /r/MemeEconomy. subreddit. The post (shown below) received more than 10,000 points (86% upvoted) and 175 comments in 24 hours.
