About

Taisho Secret is an exploitable image macro that comes from the anime series Kimetsu No Yaiba, also known as Demon Slayer. The meme involves a character from the show saying it's time for a Taisho (the historic era that the show takes place in) secret before leaning in close to say what the secret is. The template is typically used as a basic image macro, similar to Skeletor Facts, for sharing various secrets or information that are often humorous in nature.

Origin

The first Taisho Secret comes from episode two of the anime, which premiered in Japan on April 13th, 2019, as a post-credit easter egg for the fans. This Taisho Secret was recorded and uploaded to YouTube by the channel Randomfandom[1] on October 20th, 2019, where it gained 6,000 views in three years (shown below).

Spread

The Taisho Secret began to see use in memes as a format almost right away, with an example being posted to the /r/Animemes subreddit on September 1st, 2019, by the Redditor CrownedMuda4Life[2], where it gained 19,000 upvotes before being removed (shown below).

On November 8th, 2019, as part of the Epstein Didn't Kill Himself series of memes, a Taisho Secret meme was made[3] using the template of Tanjiro (shown below).
