About
Tacoma Wept is a catchphrase derived from a viral video of Twitch streamer Vaush arguing with the Twitter account for TrueAnon Podcast after they left a comment implying he can't get women to sleep with him, Vaush replying that when he got off Tinder because of the COVID-19 quarantine "Tacoma wept," referring to the city of Tacoma, Washington. The video, which Vaush claims is a joke, comes from a stream hosted in April 2020 and gained viral spread online, with some calling it cringey. The video and memes using the phrase saw an increase in virality in February 2024 following the Vaush explicit folder leak.
Origin
On April 9th, 2020, Twitch streamer Vaush uploaded a now-unlisted stream VOD to his YouTube[1] channel in which, at the 2:15:00 mark, he reads an X comment left by the TrueAnon Podcast X account to him, writing, "I will give you $5,000 if you can get some poon tang before January 1st." Vaush responds, "Do you have any idea who the fuck you’re talking to? When I got off Tinder because of the fucking quarantine, Tacoma wept." The video gained over 22,000 views in four years (shown below).
Wait, is this guy seriously saying that I can’t get laid? “Incredible. I will give you $5000 if you can get some poon tang before January 1st." Do you have any idea who the fuck you’re talking to? When I got off Tinder because of the fucking quarantine, Tacoma wept. Even ignoring the fact that I have a girlfriend, even if we’re just talking like randos, I’m two hours away right now from being inside someone else. I have two skills, it’s non-monogamy and speaking publicly, okay? Do some fucking research.
