Synchronized Walking is a TikTok trend where men stand very close to each other and walk in tandem in a single file line. The videos are generally set to the song "Boyfriend" by the band Big Time Rush. The trend appears to have originated on Norwegian TikTok near the end of July 2022, and continued in other European countries and the U.S. in consecutive months.
Origin
On July 29th, 2022, TikToker[1] @jonas.torsvik posted a video of him and a friend walking in sync while standing really close to each other in a single file line. The video was set to the song "Boyfriend" by Big Time Rush and gathered over 5 million views and 800,000 likes in two months (seen below).
Spread
On August 6th, 2022, TikToker[2] @fredrikbaas posted a video participating in the trend, gathering over 2 million views and 200,000 likes in nearly two months (seen below, left). On August 13th, TikToker[3] @its.julien.brown posted a video of him and his friends participating in the trend as well, gathering over 6 million views and 600,000 likes in nearly six weeks (seen below, right).
On August 19th, the Try Guys official TikTok[4] posted a video of them participating in the trend. The upload gathered nearly 3 million views and over 400,000 likes in six weeks (seen below, left). On September 15th, TikToker[5] @rikhilkal posted a video participating in the trend as well, gathering over 2 million views and 300,000 likes in two weeks (seen below, right).
