About
The Sweet Caroline (Relevant DNB Remix), also known as Sweet Caroline (Diagnostix Bootleg), is a U.K. jungle, drum and bass (DNB) and dubstep remix of Neil Diamond's 1969 song "Sweet Caroline" that was created by the YouTube channel RELEVANT DNB in late 2020. In September 2022, it trended on TikTok due to a mass perception of how bad it was. It was later deleted by Relevant DNB on YouTube but not before it trended on Twitter in memes similar to Hudson Mohawke's 'Cbat.'
Origin
On September 27th, 2020, the YouTube channel RELEVANT DNB uploaded a YouTube[1] video titled, "Neil Diamond – Sweet Caroline (Diagnostix Bootleg) (Free Download)," which was a U.K. jungle, drum & bass and dubstep remix of Neil Diamond's song "Sweet Caroline." In one month, the video received roughly 11,000 views. By August 2022, the YouTube[2] video gained roughly 375,200 views. In September 2022, the video was made private by RELEVANT DNB due to it going viral on TikTok for negative feedback. A reupload was posted on September 26th, 2022, by the channel Juneau, gaining roughly 32,300 views in one day (shown below).
Spread

Over the course of four days, the video received roughly 3.1 million plays and 535,000 likes (shown below, left). Soon after, various TikTokers started using the sound in their videos. For instance, on September 25th, 2022, TikToker[4] barosanto used it to make a joke about being in an Alberta, Canada nightclub, gaining roughly 102,700 plays and 9,600 likes in two days (shown below, right).
On September 24th, 2022, Twitter[5] user komm_breakfast tweeted jackgrindrod_'s TikTok, captioning it, "my fucking stomach hurts from laughing this has gotta be the worst shit i’ve ever heard in my life lmfao," and receiving roughly 596,900 views and 56,800 likes in three days (shown below).
The negative attention prompted RELEVANT DNB to make the video private on September 26th, 2022, however, going into the rest of September 2022, the humorous discourse continued on social media, aided by Juneau's YouTube[6] reupload of the song.
