About
The Survival Odyssey Replay Trend or Bro Thought I Was New is a meme trend on TikTok in which instant replays are edited into footage from video games, most often the Roblox game Survival Odyssey, during both action-packed and comedically unnecessary moments. The replays are often compared to and possibly inspired by the YouTuber Flight Reacts, who includes instant replays in his basketball videos that have been joked about as being unnecessary. The meme was popularized throughout June and July 2024 by TikToker @silt101.
Origin
On June 19th, 2024, TikToker[1] @silt101 posted a video of footage from the Roblox[2] Experience Survival Odyssey in which he fights another player. Throughout the video, he adds instant replays of important moments, denoted by the screen turning black-and-white, the footage replaying in slow-motion and the word "replay" flashing on the screen (shown below). The video gained over 155,000 views in a month.
It has been suggested that the instant replays are inspired by the instant replays that YouTuber Flight Reacts adds to his basketball videos, which have become the subject of memes before on TikTok,[3] as some moments that are replayed have been deemed unnecessary.
