On December 5th, 2016, @KazoWAR[1] tweeted a link[4] containing Pokémon walking animations datamined from the recently released game Pokémon Sun and Moon (shown below).

That day, the GameXplain YouTube channel highlighted the animations in a video that gained over 121,000 views and 1,600 comments within 72 hours (shown below).



Also on December 5th, 2016, an anonymous 4chan user submitted @KazoWAR's tweet to the /vp/ (Pokémon) board (shown below). The following day, Redditor pokeguy64 submitted a post about the animations to /r/pokemon,[2] speculating that Nintendo planned to have the creatures follow players on the world map.



Meanwhile, the Nintendo news blog AlwaysNintendo[5] published an article about the leaked animations. Also on December 6th, YouTuber Verlisify published a video about the online reactions to the datamined content (shown below).
