Summer Walker Standing is a series of image edits of American singer Summer Walker standing straight up with her arms at her sides.
Origin
On November 17th, 2019, Getty Images[1] photographer Leon Bennet shared their photograph of Walker at the BET Soul Train Awards. Hours later, Twitter [2] user @anthonyjulz shared the image. The post received more than 6,000 likes and 680 retweets in less than one week (shown below).
Spread
That day, Twitter[3] user @Ygnpaul shared an edited version of the image in which Walker is dressed in army fatigues. The tweet received more than 1,100 likes and 175 retweets in less than one week (shown below, left).
On November 20th, Summer Walker posted a number of the memes on Instagram. [4] The post received more than 500,000 likes in less than five days (shown below, center).
On November 21st, Twitter[5] user @nogameshawtys tweeted an image of Walker as a rocket launching. Summer Walker shared[6] the image and added the caption, "these damn memes." The tweet received more than 65,000 likes and 7,300 retweets in less than four days (shown below, right).
On November 23rd, The Daily Dot [6] published a report on the meme.
