YIIK: I.V is an upcoming overhaul update and an expansion to the 2019 video game YIIK: A Postmodern RPG. Announced in March 2024, the update became a subject of discussions and humorous posts online due to the original's game memetic reputation.

History

On January 1st, 2024, AckkStudios announced^[1] YIIK I.V, a reimagining and expansion of the 2019 role-playing video game YIIK: A Postmodern RPG (announcement post shown below).

On March 21st, 2024, AckkStudios announced^[2] that on April 4th, 2024, YIIK Nameless Psychosis, a demo version of the upcoming expansion, will be released (post shown below).

According to the Steam^[3] page for the game, the updated version of YIIK will feature a new battle system, an expanded campaign and ability to play as the Nameless Child among other changes

Online Reactions

On March 21st, 2024, a thread about the announcement was made on 4chan's /v/^[4] board, garnering over 530 replies in one day. In the thread, the game was dubbed "The YIIKQUEL", with users reacting with I'm Yiiking Out and other memes (shown below).

More viral reactions caused by the original game's memetic status were shared on X / Twitter. On March 22nd, 2024, X^[5] user @ShitpostRock posted a screenshot of the Steam page for YIIK Nameless Psychosis, joking that the game will be the game of the 2024. The post (shown below) received over 350 reposts and 4,100 likes in one day.
