Overview
Yang 2020: Path to Presidency is a 2019 fighting video game featuring 2020 presidential candidate Andrew Yang as the protagonist. In the game, Yang fights other figures from the 2020 election, including Bernie Sanders and United States President Donald Trump.
History
On December 4th, 2019, YouTuber Yang 2020 Path To Presidency released a trailer for the game. They wrote, "The Andrew Yang video game is finally here! Does the 'longer than longshot' candidate have what it takes to beat the competition and take back the White House?" The post received more than 12,000 views in less than one week (shown below).
The trailer announced that the game would be available on Steam on December 30th, 2019.
In an article on the game, the game's developer Sam Vallely told The Daily Dot [1] that he first heard about Yang from Yang's appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. Vallely said that "Yang’s message was inspiring enough to convince him to promote the candidate through the best way he knows how."
Reception
Following the release of the trailer, people online posted about the game. Twitter[2] user @NydleKnows tweeted, "Omg. @AndrewYang made a video game" (shown below, left).
Others posted about what characters they would play like to play. Twitter[3] user @TuboWare shared the trailer and wrote, "I main Bernie Sanders (shown below, center). Twitter[4] user @AnnoydArtificer tweeted, Oh man. I think I might be maining @joerogan" (shown below, right).
