Overview

WandaVision is an American television series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The series, which will air on Disney+, follows the character Vision and Scarlet Witch in sitcom-inspired reality after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Created by Jac Schafer, the series is loosely inspired by the Tom King comic book miniseries The Vision.

History

On November 4th, 2015, Marvel[1] published the first issue of The Vision (cover below). The 12-issue series is about Vision, an android superhero who wants to be human, so it develops an android family, including wife and children. Marvel describes the series:

The Vision wants to be human, and what's more human than family? He goes to the laboratory where he was created, where Ultron molded him into a weapon, where he first rebelled against his given destiny, where he first imagined that he could be more, that he could be good, that he could be a man, a normal, ordinary man. And he builds them. A wife, Virginia. Two teenage twins, Viv and Vin. They look like him. They have his powers. They share his grandest ambition or perhaps obsession: the unrelenting need to be ordinary. Behold The Visions!

On September 18th, 2018, Variety[2] reported that the character Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch (portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen would receive her own television series on Disney+. The following month, rumors regarding Vision's role on the show circulated.[3] On August 23rd, 2019, the Hollywood Reporter[4] reported that the series would co-star Paul Bettany as Vision.

Several months later, at the Disney fan convention D23 in November 2019,[5] Marvel unveiled the artwork for the series (shown below). Star Elizabeth Olsen confirmed that the series was a sitcom.

On September 20th, 2020, Marvel published the first trailer for WandaVision (shown below). The video received more than 5 million views in 24 hours (shown below).
