About

The Road to El Dorado is an animated musical adventure comedy film directed by Eric "Bibo" Bergeron and Don Paul, produced by DreamWorks Studios, and released on March 31, 2000. The movie tells the story of how Miguel and Tulio (and the deuteragonist Chel,) found themselves in the quest for the legendary city of gold, El Dorado.

History

Under the working title El Dorado: City of Gold, the film was originally scheduled for release in fall of 1999. In late 1996, Tim Rice and Elton John were asked to compose seven songs which they immediately worked on. The release date had been pushed to March 2000 to avoid competition with Pixar's Toy Story 2[2].

Reception

The film was met with lukewarm reception upon release. It was a box office bomb, earning only $76 million on a $95 million budget.[2] It currently holds a rating of 48% of Rotten Tomatoes,[3] indicating mixed reviews, and a score of 6.8 on IMDb.[4]

On March 30, 2014, famous Youtube musician The Living Tombstone published an audio remix of scenes in the movie simply titled The Road to El Dorado Remix. as of December 10, 2014, the video has gained 1,373,606 views.
