Overview

The New Norm Show is a conservative sitcom that premiered on X / Twitter in late June 2024. The show bills itself as the "South Park of X," and the "first animated sitcom on X." The pilot episode of the show featured various conservative influencers, such as Dave Rubin and AwakenWithJP, and includes a cameo appearance by Elon Musk. After its debut, the show sparked widespread discourse, reactions and memes on social media.

Background

On June 25th, 2024, X[1] account @XNewNorm posted a "mini PILOT" of the "first ever animated sitcom on X." The show features conservative influencers like Dave Rubin and AwakenWithJP, and includes a cameo appearance by Elon Musk. The caption on the post also urges viewers to "👇👇👇 Support this show and help fight the 'woke mind virus' with laughter! 👇👇👇."

The show follows Norm, a conservative father placed under house arrest for yelling at his progressive daughter's school board. In the short clip, he can be seen complaining about beer with rainbow packaging on it (seemingly a reference to Bud Light's 2023 campaign) and about his daughter's school "brainwashing" her.

Norm then encounters Chaz, a non-binary person sent by the government to "reeducate" him. Chaz is shown to be put off by Norm and his Black friend Charlie's friendship. Over the course of the clip, Norm is also routinely reprimanded by a HAL 9000 robot for using "offensive" language.
