About

The Eric Andre Show is a surreal comedy television show starring Eric Andre and Hannibal Buress that airs on Adult Swim. The show is a parody of low-budget public access talk shows with Andre serving as the host. Often Andre will surprise guests with unexpected questions or stunts. Since the show's premiere, it has expanded into 4 seasons, and 3 specials, with talks of a potential fifth season on the way.

History

The Eric Andre Show first premiered on May 20th, 2018 on Cartoon Network's late night programming block Adult Swim. Prior to the show's premiere, Eric Andre described the show as a live action Space Ghost: Coast to Coast, with elements from shows and media such as Tom Green's The Tom Green Show, Sacha Baron Cohen's Da Ali G Show Martin Short's Jiminy Glick character, Dave Chappelle's Chappelle's Show and elements of physical humour similar to that of Jackass.

The show, with an episode length of around 10 minutes, consists mainly of interviews with different celebrities slimmed down considerably from 1-2 hours of footage using a number of tactics to make the interviewees uncomfortable, and short sketches and skits. One notable skit from the show is "Bird Up!", featuring Andre in a green lycra outfit and interviewing random people on the street, and usually bookended by a an intro consisting of a set destruction and a ending musical performance with a twist of some kind, such as rapper Killer Mike coupled with an opera singer or producer Flying Lotus checking his emails.

Reception

The Eric Andre Show has seen general acclaim since its premiere. On IMDb, the show holds an 8.6/10 rating from over 7,200 users.
