Teen Titans GO! To the Movies is a 2018 flash-animated film distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and produced by Warner Animation Group as it will released in July 27, 2018, it was based on the Cartoon Network 2013 animated series of the same name by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic.

History

On September 25th, 2017, Warner Bros. studio announced that a movie based on the animated television series Teen Titans Go! would be released in 2018.[1][2]

About three weeks later, the official Teen Titans Go! Twitter [3] account posed an animated announcement of the cast, which features Scott Menville, Tara Strong, Greg Cipes, Will Arnett and Kristen Bell. The post (shown below) received more than 1,200 retweets and 3,600 likes in five minutes.

The following year, on January 9th, 2018, the official Warner Bros. YouTube [4] posted both tomorrow (shown below top left) and teaser trailer (shown below top right) for the film. The teaser video received more than 1.3 million views in two months. The following months on May 1st, the official Warner Bros. posted official trailer. (shown below)

Nicolas Cage Casting

On March 12th, USA Today[5] reported a list of cameos that would be featured in the film, including recording artist Halsey as Wonder Woman and rapper Little Yachty as Green Lantern. Additionally, the report announced Nicolas Cage would be playing as Superman. Cage infamously was cast to play the character in an unreleased 1998 Superman film directed by Tim Burton entitled Superman Lives (shown below).

Online, media outlets and fans shared images of Cage in the Superman costume as well as excitement about Cage finally playing the role (examples below).

The following day, Redditor[10] robomechabotatron posted the news in the /r/movies subreddit. Within two days, the post received more than 2,600 points (93% upvoted) and 230 comments. On March 14th, Twitter[6] published a Moments page about the casting and the fan reaction.


Fandom

On October 5th, 2017, the official Twitter[7] account for the film launched. As of March 2018, the account has more than 4,800 followers. Several months later, on January 10th, 2018, the official Teen Titans Go! to the Movies Facebook [8] page launched. As of March 2018, the account received more than 13,000 likes and followers, respectively.

On February 15th, Redditor [9] inspector_lee posted the poster for the film to the /r/movies subreddit. The post (shown below) received more than 2,400 points (84% upvoted) 425 comments in one month.
