Tantum Verde is a brand of pharmaceutical spray used to treat sore throats that is popular in European countries like Poland and Italy. Tantum Verde's packaging is green. The product became the subject of memes on TikTok in April and May 2025. Tantum Verde was used in ironic Phonk music edits, often combined with the Trollge (or Phonk Trollge) face and Mango Phonk memes.

History

Tantum Verde was created in 1967 by the Italian company Angelini Pharma. Scientists there discovered benzydamine hydrochloride, the active ingredient in the product. Tantum Verde is a spray used to treat sore throats caused by infection and gingivitis.^[1]

Online Presence

Tantum Verde became the subject of memes in 2025, following a video posted by TikToker^[2] @di4mond55 on April 12th. The video combined multiple clips together into one shitpost edit, which included a photo of a Tantum Verde box written in Croatian. The video received over 408,300 likes in a month (shown below).

On April 22nd, TikToker^[3] @di4mond55 posted another edit, which again started with a mango-related clip and then ended with the same photo of Tantum Verde and text overlay reading, "We bringing Tantum Verde into 2029?" The video received roughly 304,400 likes in a month (shown below).

On April 26th, 2025, TikToker^[4] @x_india.troller_x also posted an ironic Tantum Verde phonk edit, also using clips of Sigma Male characters like Patrick Bateman. The video earned over 112,100 likes in a month (shown below).

The Tantum Verde memes continued in May 2025. For instance, on May 8th, TikToker^[5] @indianrespectaccount posted an iteration of the trend, receiving over 64,300 likes in 11 days (shown below).
