Rocketman is a 2019 biographical musical film staring Taron Egerton based on the life of musician Elton John. The Film, directed by Dexter Flechter and written by Lee Hall, had been in development for almost 20 years and went through several major production companies.
History
On February 21st, 2019, Paramount Pictures released the official Rocketman trailer (shown below). The video gained over 15.3 million views and 100,000 likes in four months.
On May 16th, 2019, Rocketman was released at the Canne Film Festival followed by the May 22nd release in the UK and May 31st release in the United States. Leading up to United States release, Elton John published an exclusive article in the Guardian[4] outlining his involvement in the making of the film and his commitment to accuracy. The movie is also the first Paramount Pictures film to feature a gay male sex scene on-screen.[5]
Reception
As June 2nd, 2019, Rocketman has made over $25,000,000 in the U.S. and Canada with a worldwide total of $56,200,000.[2] As of June 3rd, Rotten Tomatoes[3] has Rocketman at a rating of 91% out of 253 reviews with the total audience score of 88%.

Sex Scene
On May 28th, Twitter user @DrMarkAldridge[1] tweeted, "Mumsnet[6] has reviewed Rocketman" and shared a review that read" "I'm having a shite time atm, went to pictures to see Rocketman yesterday and found the sex scene between Taron Egerton and Richard Madden the hottest thing I've ever seen. Seriously, if you're a menopausal old hound looking for a boost in the fanjo, go and watch this on a loop" (shown below, left). The tweet gained over 10,100 likes and 1,800 retweets in six days. The next day, Kyle Buchanan[7] tweeted, "I just read this out loud to Taron Egerton and he died laughing: 'That's the best review I've ever gotten.'" (shown below, right). His retweet accumulated over 2,300 likes and 300 retweets in five days.
