About
PlatinumGames is a Japanese game development studio founded in 2007. Created as a merger between two other companies both founded by former Capcom staff, the company would become notable for games such as Bayonetta and The Wonderful 101, along with installments in existing series such as Starfox, Metal Gear, and Nier.
History
PlatinumGames was founded on October 1st, 2007 through the merger of companies Seeds Inc. and Odd Inc. Seeds Inc. was founded by developers Shinji Mikami, Atsushi Inaba, and Hideki Kamiya, all three of which were former Capcom employees that worked on popular series such as Resident Evil and Devil May Cry, and were a part of the former Capcom subsidiary Clover Studio where they had developed cult titles such as Viewtiful Joe and Okami. Odd Inc. was founded by Tatsuya Minami, also a former Capcom developer, who worked on games in the Mega Man series and Super Ghouls and Ghosts.
In 2008, Sega announced the publishing of four PlatinumGames titles that would be released in 2009 and 2010, those being MadWorld, Bayonetta, Infinite Space and Vanquish.

Scalebound was an upcoming action RPG developed by PlatinumGames and to be published by Microsoft for PC and Xbox One. Initially announced in 2013 and set for release in 2017, the game was eventually cancelled by January of that year.
