Physint is the name of an upcoming action espionage video game created and released by Hideo Kojima and his company Kojima Productions. The game, being KojiPro's third IP, is hyped up as a return to form for Hideo, with it being the first action espionage title he has made since Metal Gear Solid V.
On January 31st, 2024, as part of Sony's "State of Play" announcement, Hideo had announced that after Death Stranding 2 the company was going to be diligently working on a new action espionage title, a culmination of his 40-years working on the genre. This portion was clipped and later posted to YouTube by the official PlayStation[1] channel, where it earned over 143,000 views in 12 hours (shown below).
Immediately after the reveal, the game sparked conversations online. In a later post[2] on X, Hideo Kojima revealed his plan for the game, saying it is a new generation of the genre and that it would be an interactive 'game' while feeling like a movie in various aspects. This word usage is consistent with his word choice when talking about his previous games, such as Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Death Stranding, with only Snake Eater having the moniker of "tactical action espionage" (shown below).
Due to the wording, saying that Physint will blur the line between games and movie entertainment, some fans were concerned due to Hideo's propensity for creating hour-long cutscenes in games with minor gameplay in between. This fear was enhanced by the game's name being on a movie billboard underneath Columbia Pictures. The image of the name, a working title, appearing in that fashion caused fans to speculate as to its meaning, with @SuperTuberEddie[3] uploading the picture and speculating that the name could be an anagram for something (shown below).
